Living Beyond the Boxes

Dee Hayward
Delaware, OH
Lupus, Raynaud’s

When you have an autoimmune disease, one is often given labels by others about who one is and what one can be. Some days the labels may fit, but I choose to rise above what others think. I can still be creative, analytical, compassionate, courageous and strong. I choose to live beyond the boxes others may put me in.

Purple represent lupus, while the blues and white represent the colors of my fingers and toes when Raynaud’s strikes. The butterfly represents the butterfly rash that often appears on the face of those with lupus.
