Living with a chronically painful and fatiguing autoimmune condition is challenging. I’ve always used art and writing to cope with life’s woes and, this isn’t any different. My poem, “3:44 am” illustrates the persistent frustration and sorrow that can plague us at times. Sleepless nights are not unusual for me and, it’s during one of these times that this poem came to me.
