AARDA’s Statement on the Proposed Medicare Part D Budget

Washington, DC (February 8, 2018) – The Autoimmune Association issued the following statement in response to the proposed restructuring of the Medicare Part D program in the latest budget agreement. Autoimmune Association fully supports Medicare Part D based upon competitive market forces as the best way to ensure the lowest prices for all seniors.

“For the approximately 50 million Americans—including many seniors—currently living with an autoimmune disease, access to a wide array of medications is essential. The latest budget agreement includes a provision that undermines the Medicare Part D program, which helps provide over 42 million seniors with access to the medications they need. Changing the fundamental structure of Medicare Part D threatens this stability of this essential program. Congress must weigh the implications and consequences of such changes with discussion and study. It must not act in haste, too much is at stake.”

About AARDA- Autoimmune Association is the only national nonprofit focused on advocacy, education, public awareness, research, and patient information for the 100+ conditions in the autoimmune disease category.

Sincerely,

Virginia Ladd

President and Executive Director
