The Autoimmune Association Announces New Leadership for Board of Directors

New Chair and Executive Officers Named; Organization Welcomes New Board Member and Recognizes Departing Leader

The Autoimmune Association today announced new leadership for its Board of Directors, naming Sloane Salzburg as Chair, alongside a newly appointed slate of executive officers and the addition of a new Board member.

Sloane Salzburg has been named Chair of the Board of Directors, with David Ascik serving as Vice Chair, Indie Lee as Treasurer, and Linda Oszust as Secretary.

“We are proud to welcome this exceptional group of leaders into their new roles,” said Molly Murray, president and CEO of the Autoimmune Association. “Sloane brings a deep understanding of health policy, advocacy, and coalition building that will help guide our work at a critical time. Alongside David, Indie, and Linda, this leadership team strengthens our ability to advance patient-first policies, expand access to care, and drive research forward for the autoimmune community.”

Salzburg is a Principal at Monument Advocacy, where she guides government affairs strategy for a range of healthcare clients and coalitions. Known for translating complex policy into clear, actionable strategies, she has led advocacy campaigns, policy summits, and coalition efforts to advance innovative healthcare solutions. Her background spans Capitol Hill, science, and healthcare, including roles as an adjunct biology professor, emergency room technician, and researcher. She holds a master’s in biomedical science & policy from Georgetown University and a Bachelor’s in Zoology from the University of Florida.

The Autoimmune Association also welcomed Caleb Powers as a new member of the Board of Directors.Powers is a Partner at Ember Infrastructure, where he focuses on investments in sustainability and essential infrastructure sectors, including water, energy transition, and industrial systems. He brings experience in financial strategy, organizational design, and long-term planning, supporting the Association’s continued growth and impact. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College.

In addition to its executive leadership, the Board includes members Robert H. Phillips, PhD; Priya Patil; Lilly Stairs; and Scott Williams. Nona Bear and Stephanie P. Hales will continue to serve as Advisors to the Board of Directors.

The Autoimmune Association also extends its gratitude to Mirta Santos for her service on the Board and years of dedicated leadership and contributions to the organization and the broader autoimmune community.

The Board of Directors plays a critical role in guiding the Autoimmune Association’s mission to improve the lives of those affected by autoimmune disease through advocacy, awareness, education, and research.
