What has been your biggest challenge on your autoimmune journey?

Accepting the fact that even in remission, I still worry sometimes about when and how severe it could return.

What has been instrumental in helping you navigate and adapt to living with autoimmune disease(s)?

Taking responsibility for my health through exercise and healthy eating. It’s made me strong both mentally and physically.

What advice would you give someone who is struggling with an autoimmune disease(s)?

Become a member of advocacy groups such as AARDA, NORD, wWAIHA Warriors, etc. Some groups might be more active than others, but someone will reach out to you with opportunities to learn more and contribute.

Why is it important for those who are living with a specific autoimmune condition to join together and raise awareness about autoimmune diseases as a category?

The world of currently incurable autoimmune disorders is massive. The more people advocating for a specific one, the more doctors and researchers will understand its need for attention. It’s also important for our own mental well-being to have contact with others who have shared experiences. There is strength in numbers in more ways than one.
