Gaming for Good: How Four Creators Turned Livestream Gaming into More Than $23,000 for the Autoimmune Community

Four online content creators—GeoBlitzy, Juniper, Herozer, and Zoidy—recently brought the Geometry Dash gaming community together to raise funds for the Autoimmune Association. GeoBlitzy and Juniper have hosted similar annual events in the past, with Herozer and Zoidy joining the hosting team this year. Together, they set an ambitious fundraising goal of $15,000 and ultimately raised more than $23,000.

A livestream is a live online broadcast where viewers watch a creator play a game, talk with the audience, and react to what is happening in real time. This charity event brought together many individual livestreams hosted by content creators across the community. During each stream, viewers could donate through a fundraising page linked to the broadcast. Donation totals and messages could appear on screen, allowing audiences to watch the fundraiser grow and celebrate milestones together.

The decision to support the Autoimmune Association was deeply personal for Juniper. Her younger sister was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and celiac disease at age 15 after being rushed to the emergency room with dangerously high blood sugar. She was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, and additional screening also confirmed celiac disease.Juniper at her gaming station

The news came as a shock to the entire family. Juniper remembers joking with her sister that she could not possibly have celiac disease because she loved bread. But as Juniper began listening to her sister’s doctors and researching the condition, she learned that celiac disease does not always look the way people expect. Some people have few obvious digestive symptoms—or none at all—while the disease continues to cause damage within the body.

That realization made Juniper think about her own health. For years, blood tests had shown low levels of iron, vitamin B12, folate, and vitamin D. She had also experienced increasing fatigue and brain fog, but the pieces had never been connected.

After asking her doctor to test her for celiac disease in August 2025, Juniper received positive results. An endoscopy later confirmed the diagnosis and revealed additional damage in her stomach, which further testing attributed to autoimmune gastritis.

“I have now been gluten-free for nearly eight months, and I’m still getting the hang of it—it’s much harder than it seems on the surface,” Juniper shared.

For Juniper, the most difficult part of celiac disease has not simply been missing certain foods. It has been adjusting to having to ask extra questions, research restaurants in advance, decline certain foods, or worry about being a burden to others.

“I used to love trying new things and being spontaneous, but that becomes infinitely more difficult with celiac disease,” she said. “Visiting new restaurants is a source of stress rather than a fun experience.”

She has also been surprised by how isolating autoimmune disease can feel. After her diagnosis, Juniper searched for a local support group where she could connect with others who understood what she was going through, but she was unable to find one.

“When I was initially diagnosed, I remember searching for a support group nearby that I could connect with as I started adapting to my new lifestyle,” she said. “To this day, I still struggle with the feeling of being a burden to those around me because of a condition I am unable to control.”

“To me, the Autoimmune Association is a source of hope,” Juniper said.

The mission also reflects the hosts’ interests in medicine and research. Juniper hopes to pursue a career in microbiological or immunological research, while GeoBlitzy is preparing to begin medical school. Supporting patients both medically and emotionally felt like a natural extension of the issues they care about.

Throughout the event, the creators used their platform not only to encourage donations, but also to educate viewers. They discussed how autoimmune diseases can appear suddenly, how easily symptoms can be overlooked, and how much misunderstanding and stigma patients may face. By talking openly during the event, the hosts hoped to correct misconceptions and help viewers better understand the realities of living with autoimmune disease.

GeoBlitzy at his gaming stationCo-host GeoBlitzy, a  pre-med university student and content creator, saw an opportunity to make change. “In the past few years, I’ve noticed more than ever how autoimmune disease can disrupt lives at the most unexpected times, with multiple people I know getting sudden diagnoses at a young age. Majoring in the health sciences has also shown me how research and public awareness shapes scientific progress and leads to real, tangible change. Thus, supporting the Autoimmune Association this year felt like the right move.”

“You are not alone,” Juniper said when asked what advice she would give someone struggling with an autoimmune condition. “Autoimmune disease is isolating and comes with many ups and downs, but at the end of the day, it cannot stop you from being yourself.”

The Geometry Dash Charity Event shows that meaningful fundraising can begin in unexpected places. A group of gamers, a livestream, and a passionate online audience came together around a shared purpose and transformed an annual gaming event into more than $23,000 in support for the autoimmune community.

Just as importantly, they created a space where people could learn, connect, challenge misconceptions, and hear a story that may help someone else recognize that they are not alone.
