Autoimmune Disease Awareness Month: Common Threads For Us All

AutoimmuneMom

The month has flown by — and with it, Autoimmune Disease Awareness Month is coming to a close, as winter turns to spring.

I love that March – the only month of the year that “comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb” is the month for reflection and focus on autoimmune awareness.  It’s a poignant parallel for the season of autoimmune diagnosis and healing we have all gone through, and always will, to some extent.

For some of us, the diagnosis season lasted far too many years as we navigated multiple doctors who told us it was all in our heads.  For others, the healing season is a dance of the right stress level, diet, medication and support team (health providers and family/friends).

Wherever you are, two things are important to remember: you are not alone, and this too shall pass.  You are strong and brave, and you will figure out how to get a healing place where you are happy and peaceful.  I believe that 100%.

We all need a dose of inspiration and awe in our week, so I pulled together an AutoimmuneMom story map, which lets you find the ones that will help you most right now.

Many of these authors have their own blogs, or have started businesses to help others like us.  So within these stories are some fantastic resources to follow.

And though these moms all have different autoimmune diseases – some invisible, some visible – their themes are common throughout: hope, resilience, grit, bravery, joy, and laughter.

Enjoy!  And know that you are as amazing and fantastic as these autoimmune moms.
